The Imo State chairman of the Nigeria Youth Congress (NYC), Hon. Comr. Stanley U. Nze, has lauded Governor Hope Uzodimma for engaging 6,030 teachers and 345 non-teaching staff into the school system.
Nze said the historic feat would significantly promote quality teaching and learning in the state, thereby producing critical minds that would richly contribute to the socio-economic development and advancement of the oil-rich region.
Nze gave the commendation in a release he signed and made available to the media in Owerri on Saturday.
The Imo NYC chairman said the youths of Imo State were very happy with the development by the governor, whom he described as youth-friendly, a lover of education and development-oriented. He added that the recruitment had restored pride to the teaching profession and given hope to thousands of Imo youths.
Nze assured the governor of the absolute support of Imo youths towards moving the state forward, even as he encouraged Imo teachers to always do their best to teach, guide, discipline and mentor the children so that they become better, responsible and productive citizens for the benefit of the state.
“Your Excellency, on behalf of the leadership and entire members of the Nigeria Youth Congress, Imo State Chapter, I write to most sincerely commend and applaud your visionary leadership for the historic recruitment of 6,030 teachers and 345 non-teaching staff, which you officially announced at the Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu International Conference Centre, Owerri, on 24th September, 2026.
“This bold step is laudable, applaudable and highly commendable. It goes beyond mere employment. It is a strategic investment in the future of Imo State and a clear proof that your Shared Prosperity Administration prioritises quality education as the bedrock of societal development.
“Your Excellency, by ensuring a thorough six-week training at Ben Uwajimogu College of Education, Ihitte-Uboma, and providing them with computer tablets, you have demonstrated your commitment to quality education. Your decision to deploy these teachers to schools within their communities is a masterstroke that will bridge the rural-urban education gap.
“Most inspiring is your golden declaration that teachers will now be the most important civil servants in Imo State and their welfare your top priority. Sir, you have restored pride to the teaching profession and given hope to thousands of Imo youths.
“Imo youths, under NYC, are proud of you and we pledge our continuous support and solidarity to your administration.
“To all the 6,030 newly employed teachers and 345 non-teaching staff of Imo State, we extend our heartfelt congratulations to you on your well-deserved employment into the Imo State Civil Service,” Nze said.
He mentioned that this feat was not just a job but a call to service, having been selected from among thousands, trained for six weeks and entrusted with the future of Imo State.
“As you resume in your various schools, remember this: Aside from their biological parents, you are the parents they see every day. A child spends more active hours with you than with anyone else. What you teach them today becomes what Imo State becomes tomorrow.
“Inculcate discipline and good morals. Please, do not only teach Mathematics and English; teach character, respect, hard work, honesty and dignity. Imo needs morally sound future leaders, not just brilliant people.
“Be role models. The tablets and salaries the government has given you are symbols of trust. Let your dressing, punctuality and speech inspire your students. You have been deployed to your communities for a reason, as charity begins at home. Build your home.
“The NYC Imo State is proud of you. We will visit you, we will support you and we will hold you accountable because the growth and educational development of our younger brothers and sisters depend largely on you.
“Go and shape destinies. Go and build Imo. Congratulations once again! Aluta Continua!
“May God continue to strengthen you, His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodimma, to do more for Imo State,” Nze maintained.
