Media relations consultant, Chief Dr Fidel Onyeneke, has commended the Ezinwanne Leadership Foundation for recognising Senator Ezenwa Onyewuchi as the Best Performing Senator in Imo State, describing the award as a testament to his representation of Owerri Senatorial Zone at the National Assembly.

Reacting to the honour, Onyeneke said the award was well deserved, citing the senator’s reported contributions to employment generation, youth empowerment, skills acquisition and community development.

He noted that Onyewuchi had facilitated employment opportunities for many constituents and implemented empowerment programmes aimed at equipping young people with practical skills to improve their livelihoods.

Onyeneke specifically highlighted the establishment of an ultra-modern skills acquisition centre in Owerri North, where youths receive free training in artificial intelligence (AI), information and communication technology (ICT), fisheries, phone repairs and other vocational fields.

According to him, the initiative provides young people with opportunities to acquire relevant skills that could improve their prospects for employment and self-reliance.

The media consultant also pointed to infrastructure projects executed across communities in Owerri Senatorial Zone, including water supply facilities, electricity projects and solar-powered installations.

He added that several communities had benefited from the construction of town halls and markets sponsored by the senator in designated political wards.

On healthcare, Onyeneke said Onyewuchi had organised free eye treatment programmes and medical outreach services in various communities, with thousands of residents reportedly benefiting across the local government areas within the senatorial district.

He maintained that the interventions reflected the importance of constituency representation that prioritises the needs of the people through skills development, infrastructure provision and access to healthcare.

Onyeneke, a former Special Adviser to the Imo State Governor on Orientation, also praised the management of the Ezinwanne Leadership Foundation for selecting Onyewuchi for the recognition.

He described the award as an important signal to public office holders that their performance is attracting increasing scrutiny from the electorate.

According to him, the recognition should encourage elected officials at all levels to strengthen their commitment to public service and deliver programmes that directly improve the welfare of their constituents.

He added that awards based on leadership and public service could serve as incentives for political office holders to remain focused on their responsibilities to the people.
