A staff of a popular hotel in Owerri has been nabbed for stealing the sum of N 517,000 from the hotel management.
The staff by name “China” was apprehended by the Police after he made away with the huge sum of money from the NIV lounge, one of the numerous outlets of All Seasons Hotel, Owerri
The staff was said to have cartered away the money without the knowledge of his co staffers which prompted the Police to intervene swiftly.
It was gathered that after the Police intervened in the matter and made some arrest, the suspect “China” also confessed to the crime and pledged to return the money to the hotel management.
The matter was later settled when the mother of the suspect returned the money to the lawyer of the hotel management saving him the agony of being dragged to a law court for possible prosecution for theft.
When contacted for comments, the Police PRRO, Imo State Police Command, DSP Andrew Enwerem said at the time our reporter called to make inquires on the incident, he was not aware of such development.
A source at the hotel confirmed that the money has been returned to the hotel by the suspect and has been relieved of his duties to serve as a deterrent to others.
