NFF Told To Sack Super Eagles Coach Peseiro

Following the 4-0 defeat of the Super Eagles of Nigeria by Portugal at an International friendly match played on Thursday night in Lisbon, an Abia State based football coach, Mr. Godfrey Egere, has called for the sack of Eagles coach, Jose Peseiro.

Egere said Peseiro lacks the technical depth and capacity to manage the Super Eagles.

“Peseiro does not have the technical ability to lead a bunch of talented players like the Super Eagles.

“The players are good. They play well for their various clubs, but it is unfortunate Peseiro does not know how to glue the players together as a team to achieve results” he said.

He noted that losing four goals to nil to a top side like Portugal underscores the fact that Peseiro, was unable to put in place the right tactics and game management to manage the Portuguese national team.

“I agree, the Portuguese team is of top quality, but they are not invincible.

“We have good set of players too, but Peseiro cannot string them into a team. It takes a good coach to mould a good team with the good players he has. And we have such players in the Super Eagles.

“This is his fifth defeat since he was announced as Super Eagles manager by the outgone NFF President, Amaju Pinnick.

“These defeats will continue. Peseiro has only defeated weak teams, teams that are rated above 50 in FIFA rankings. And we say he is a good coach?

“Peseiro can only boast of victory against minnows such as Sierra Leone and Trinidad and Tobago, and yet we are giving him more time, time to do what? The man is incapable and inefficient and we may not qualify for AFCON if we continue with him” he said.

Egere noted that the humiliation of the Super Eagles by the Portuguese team is an indication that Nigeria may have been further humiliated at the World Cup in Qatar by more prepared teams if they had qualified for the tournament and led by Peseiro.

“Under Peseiro, the Super Eagles are not playing well. Against Portugal, it showed. There was no cohesion, no flow and inability by the players to build up was a major problem. The NFF must act fast before Peseiro inflicts more damage” he said.
