10 Year Old Jessica Onyeukwu Elected “Governor” Amen Montessori Children’s School

Scion of the Onyeukwu Dynasty in the Owere-Nchi-Ise community of Imo State and one of the grand daughters of the late media icon and Ikemba of Owere, Chief Nath Onyeukwu, has emerged the “Governor” of the elite Amen Montessori Children’s School, in Owerri, the Imo State capital.

Miss Jessica Onyeukwu, a Grade Six pupil of the school, recently defeated three other contestants for the position at a keenly contested election held at the school grounds which was conducted by its authorities led by its Proprietress, Pastor (Mrs) Comfort Amekeinan.

Aged 10 years, she polled 88 votes to emerge the winner. By her victory, she is expected to oversee the affairs of other pupils of the school as their elected “Governor”for the next one year.

Miss Jessica Onyeukwu, who will be sworn into office at a date to announced later by the school, is the daughter of Hon. Sunny Onyeukwu, the Special Adviser to the Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu.

Hon. Sunny Onyeukwu is the eldest son of the late veteran journalist of international acclaim and one of Nigeria’s accomplished elder statesmen.

It will be recalled that on September 2, this year, the remains of Jessica’s grandfather, Chief Nath Onyeukwu, who was also an influential member of the Imo State Elders Advisory Council, was laid to rest at the family Mausoleum in Owerri at a colorful funeral ceremony which attracted several eminent personalities from different parts of the country and beyond.

He passed on May 29, this year at the age of 85 years.
