The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Zone C has congratulated Comrade Al-Hassan Yahya on his election as the new National President and Comrade Abimbola Oyetunde as the first-ever female Deputy President of the union.
Their victories were announced during the 8th National Triennial Delegates’ Conference held in Owerri, Imo State.
In a statement signed by Comrade Ezenwa Adiuku, the Zonal Secretary of NUJ Zone C, the leadership and members of NUJ Zone C expressed their heartfelt congratulations, acknowledging the duo’s dedication to the union’s cause.
“We are delighted that the members of the NUJ have, through their votes, recognized your commitment and hard work,” the statement read.
The congratulatory message further noted the historic nature of Oyetunde’s election, emphasizing her achievement as the first woman to hold the position of Deputy President in the union’s history.
The statement also expressed optimism that the newly elected leaders will guide the NUJ to greater heights, building on its strong legacy and advancing the welfare of its members.
NUJ Zone C affirmed its unwavering support for the new leadership, pledging to cooperate fully with Yahya and Oyetunde’s administration. “We stand ready to provide the cooperation and support necessary to elevate our beloved union to a new level,” the statement added.
