FULL PRESS STATEMENT BY OWERRI ZONE AWARENESS COALITION (OZAC)
As Imo State gears up for the 2027 governorship election, the Owerri Zone Awareness Coalition (OZAC) is compelled to address unfolding political developments.
We reaffirm our commitment to fostering a robust, inclusive, and strategic approach to achieving equitable governance in our state.
Political alignments and realignments are natural and permissible in a thriving democracy.
Defections, whether from the APC or any other party, signify the dynamic nature of our political system and encourage broader participation. They reflect individuals’ freedom to seek platforms aligned with their aspirations.
Moreover, such movements introduce fresh perspectives and ideas into the political landscape.
No group or individual has the authority to prevent anyone from associating with a political group of their choice. Democracy thrives on the freedom to align with like-minded individuals and organizations. Attempts to stifle this right are undemocratic and counterproductive.
OZAC remains unwavering in its advocacy for a governor of Owerri zone extraction in 2027. This cause is sacrosanct, and we will continue to champion it with determination. No individual or group should attempt to intimidate or silence those championing this just cause.
Achieving this ambition requires strategic engagement and collaboration with stakeholders from other zones. Synergy among all geopolitical zones is vital for building the alliances necessary to actualize the quest for an Owerri zone governor in 2027.
The race for 2027 is not premature. In politics, early preparation and planning are critical. We believe Governor Hope Uzodimma is not distracted by these activities. As a seasoned politician and liberal leader, we believe he appreciates the vibrant political discourse and strategic positioning shaping the race for his sucessor.
OZAC has not endorsed any individual for the 2027 governorship race. We will conduct extensive engagements and consultations, as part of our commitment to ensuring an Owerri zone governor emerges.
Realizing this vision requires the collective efforts of all people of goodwill. No individual or group, within or outside Owerri zone, should assume the exclusive authority to determine its success. It is a shared project that demands unity and commitment.
As a non-partisan organization, OZAC encourages capable sons and daughters of Owerri zone interested in the 2027 governorship race to step forward.
Early groundwork and strategic planning are necessary for meaningful participation and success.
OZAC is dedicated to fostering constructive dialogue, strategic alliances, and unwavering advocacy for the realization of an Owerri zone governor. Let us work together to ensure this dream becomes a reality.
Signed:
Emmanuel Okwu
President
Austin Uche
