Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, will tomorrow unveil a novel digital device known as MyImoApp, which will enable citizens and other Nigerians to track developments in the state in real-time.

He will also present startup kits to 10,000 Imo youths who have completed their digital training under Cohort 3 of the SkillUp Imo project.

Imo State Commissioner for Information, Public Orientation and Strategy, Hon. Declan Emelumba, described the event to be held at the newly commissioned Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu International Conference Centre, Owerri, as part of the state’s renewed commitment to digital technology.

He said the 10,000 youths will add to the already trained and equipped 40,000 Imo youths who are either gainfully employed in digital technology or are self-employed.

According to him, “In empowering our youths through the SkillUp Imo project, Governor Hope Uzodimma wants to equip young Imolites with the digital skills that drive the world today.”

He disclosed that the youths have received training across various tech fields, including cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, mobile app development, software engineering, blockchain, fintech, entrepreneurship, and digital marketing.

On the other hand, the Commissioner said the MyImoApp was designed as “a monument of innovation, a masterpiece of collaboration, and a milestone in governance transformation. For the first time in our state’s history, every Imo person, wherever you are in the world, can now connect directly with your government.”

Emelumba attributed the digital foundation being laid by Uzodimma as a means of launching the state into the digital world.

He declared, “Come and witness the making of history and the fulfilment of a promise by the visionary government of Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, CON, the transformative Governor of Imo State.”
