…Likens Governor’s Performance To A Man Admiring A Lady’s Bikini
Former governor of Imo State, Dr. Ikedi Ohakim, has said that even though Governor Hope Uzodimma has so far performed creditably well, what the people will witness in the remaining part of his administration will be far greater than what he has already achieved.
Dr. Ohakim was speaking during a stakeholders’ meeting of the Imo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), held over the weekend at the Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu International Conference Centre, Owerri.
The former governor, however, stirred the capacity-filled hall when he illustrated his assertion with a metaphor of a man admiring a lady wearing a bikini. He said: “The man is excited by what he is seeing already, even though he is yet to see what is hidden behind the bikini,” as the audience erupted in apparent appreciation of the humour.
Ohakim thereafter urged the stakeholders to continue to support the governor, especially in his efforts to minimize insecurity in the state. His words: “But for the efforts of the governor, criminal elements would have captured each and every one of us.”
Other top stakeholders who spoke at the meeting include the immediate past deputy governor of the state, Professor Placid Njoku; Senator Osita Izunaso; Senator Ezenwa Onyewuchi; Minister of State for Finance, Doris Uzoka-Anite; Mr. Chris Okewulonu; Hon. Chuma Nnaji; Prince Lemy Akakem; and Prince Marcellinus Nlemigbo.
Speaker after speaker eulogized Governor Uzodimma for his achievements in various areas, especially infrastructure, healthcare, and human capital development.
The chairman of the APC in the state, Mr. MacDonald Ebere, earlier in a welcome address, enjoined party faithful, especially those holding public offices, to give more financial support to the party to enable it to continue repositioning itself.
In his speech, Governor Uzodimma thanked party members for their continued support and promised the people of the state that he would double his efforts in the pursuit of their welfare.
He enjoined those sabotaging his administration to turn a new leaf and join the party, pointing out that the APC has become the most credible platform on which anyone with political ambition can pursue it successfully.
