A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Abia State, Chief Charles Ogbonnaya, has advised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu not to trust Governor Alex Otti to work for him in 2027 from another political platform outside the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He told the President that Otti has an unsavoury antecedent of breaking political promises and alliances because of his despotic nature that abhors the principles of democracy, teamwork, and consultations.
Chief Ogbonnaya spoke against the rumoured plan by the governor to defect to the All Progressives Grand Alliance and his pledge to work for the re-election of Tinubu even from APGA.
The two-term former commissioner in Abia State told Tinubu not to be taken in by Otti’s promises, as he lacks the capacity and moral fibre to keep any of them.
“Dr. Alex Otti is a serial political betrayer who has never kept any promise. Ask those who have worked with him in PDP, APGA, APC, and lately Labour Party and Zenith Labour Party. He never kept one promise he made to those parties.”
Chief Ogbonnaya also noted that Alex Otti didn’t look back when he threw Peter Obi under the bus just to realise his own selfish ambition.
He said it was absurd for Otti to promise to work for Tinubu and the APC from APGA when Abia APC is surfeit with experienced, dedicated, and trusted politicians who have the capacity to deliver Mr President.
“If Otti is sincere in helping Mr President, why did he not join APC? What kind of influence does he have to work for Tinubu from APGA when many of us in APC are doing the job? This is the height of deceit typical of the governor,” he submitted.
He said it was an irony of fate that the governor, who has been demolishing and sealing the campaign offices of Tinubu all over Abia, will run to Abuja to profess loyalty and love to him.
The elder statesman also carpeted Otti for lying and deceiving Ndigbo that he went to see Tinubu for the release of Nnamdi Kanu, whereas he went there to negotiate for his political survival ahead of the 2027 elections.
According to him, Otti is now clutching at any straw for political survival, including playing politics with the sensitive issue of Nnamdi Kanu’s incarceration.
“Let me just warn him that anyone who uses Nnamdi Kanu’s condition for political gain will suffer the consequences. Otti went to Abuja to negotiate his political future. Let him stop deceiving the people,” Ogbonnaya, who is Evulogu Ibeku, declared.
The former Deputy Chief of Staff to the Abia governor enjoined all APC stakeholders in the state to counter the lies of Alex Otti and work assiduously for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
