Chief Mike Duru Ejiogu has formally unveiled what he described as a “Restoration Agenda” for Okigwe Zone ahead of the 2027 senatorial election, anchoring his political message on the development strides recorded during the administration of the late former Imo State governor, Dee Sam Mbakwe.
In a campaign-style poster circulated by his media team, Mr Ejiogu drew parallels between his political ambition and the industrial and infrastructural projects executed under Mr Mbakwe despite the former governor leading what was then considered a minority political party.
The poster listed several projects credited to the Mbakwe era, including the Imo Modern Poultry Farm in Avutu, the Amaraku Independent Power Project, the Nsu Tile Factory, Clay Products Ezinachi, the Greater Okigwe Water Scheme, the Amuro Bricks Factory and the establishment of Imo State University at Etiti.
According to the message, the projects were delivered “within four years” under difficult political conditions, with the campaign insisting that the late governor demonstrated “rare commitment” to the development of the state and the Okigwe area despite operating from the platform of the defunct Nigerian Peoples Party, NPP.
The document further projected Mr Ejiogu as a politician with what it called a “consuming passion” to restore development to Okigwe Zone through legislative influence, appropriation, lobbying and political teamwork rather than executive authority.
Quoting the popular saying that “it’s not the size of the man in the fight but the size of the fight in the man,” the campaign message urged voters across Okigwe District to support Mr Ejiogu’s senatorial ambition in the 2027 election cycle.
The campaign material, signed by the Restoration Media Team, appears to signal the beginning of a broader political mobilisation in Okigwe Zone as aspirants and interest groups quietly position themselves ahead of the next general elections in Imo State.
