Prince Alex Mbata, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Imo East Senatorial Zonet, has received fresh support from stakeholders of the party in Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area, who have pledged to mobilise votes for his senatorial bid ahead of the January 16, 2027 National Assembly election.

The stakeholders gave their assurance during a meeting held at the Owerri residence of a notable APC leader from Aboh Mbaise, Chief Bedewell Ehiriudo. The meeting, presided over by the APC Chairman in the council area, Hon. Tony Awusaku, attracted party leaders, ward chairmen, women leaders, President-Generals and other stakeholders.
Addressing the gathering, Mbata described the engagement as a homecoming and assured the people of Aboh Mbaise that he would not take their support for granted. He said his decision to seek election into the Senate was driven by his desire to deploy his experience, resources and capacity towards effective legislative representation, while sustaining and expanding his humanitarian and developmental interventions.
Among those who spoke at the meeting were the APC House of Representatives candidate for Aboh Mbaise/Ngor Okpala Federal Constituency, Mrs. Ngozi Pat Ekeji; former lawmaker, Chief Eddy Obinna; former Aboh Mbaise council chairman, Ihekwuemere Alaribe; and the Imo State Commissioner for Housing, Rt. Hon. Bede Eke. They pledged support for Mbata and other APC candidates, urging party members to close ranks and intensify grassroots mobilisation.
Mbata also received a similar endorsement from the Nzuko Owerri General Assembly (NOGA) during a meeting held at the residence of its National President, Hon. Dan Ikpeazu, in Agbala, Owerri North Local Government Area. The organisation cited his humanitarian interventions, empowerment programmes and infrastructural contributions across Owerri Zone as reasons for its support.
Speaking at the meeting, Mbata said his aspiration was not based on making fresh promises, but on building on his years of service to the people. He urged members of the organisation to assess his aspiration based on his antecedents, assuring that his representation would have a tangible impact across the nine local government areas of Owerri Zone.
The Chairman of the NOGA Board of Trustees, Hon. Fidel Onyeneke, and the organisation’s Patron, Hon. Ben Anyanwu Eziokpara, also expressed support for Mbata’s aspiration. The two engagements formed part of the APC senatorial candidate’s ongoing consultations across Owerri Zone as he seeks to consolidate support ahead of the 2027 election.
