Snippets of information from the Imo State chapter of the All Progressive Congress, indicates that the party may go for mock primaries to select candidates for various elective positions in the future.

Selection of Local Government and Chairmanship Aspirants on the party’s platform is said to be a veritable platform that will serve  as a test case.

Hilary Eke, the Imo APC Chairman was not on seat when our reporter visited the party headquarters to verify the claims.

A party source said the plans have been concluded among key stakeholders in the party mainly those loyal to the State Governor, Rochas Okorocha. It is unknown how the exercise will work out as some observers say it is a recipe for chaos considering the polarization of the APC in the state.

The APC in Imo State is said to be strongly polarized between the Governor and some politicians in the party. Okorocha had last week denied such division, saying the party is “enviously united”

Source said the issue of mock primaries is being tinkered as a strategy aimed at ensuring that only those loyal to the Rescue mission boat of the governor are elected into positions from the councillors to his sucessor.

A party officail who spoke on condition of anonymity said“ I saw face book post by one of the members of the Imo State House of Assembly who said selection rather than an open primary will be used to choose aspirants.

” Coming from a serving lawmaker, that sounds serious but we have to wait and see how this plans unfold” he said
