A youth group under the aegis of “All Nigeria United Nations Students and Youths Association, ANUSA, gathered in Owerri for their Zone “A” Conference 2017 with the theme:”Youths and Restructuring of Nigeria through Peaceful Resolution”.
The epoch making event attracted many dignitaries including politicians,students and youths from across the country especially members of the association including some selected few persons who were honoured with ANUSA fellowship awards.
Speaking to newmen, the
National Executive President of ANUSA, Comrade Ajala-Davies Ademoyegun expressed satisfaction for the successes recorded in ANUSA under his watch. He described the event as a gathering of people from the SouthSouth and SouthEastern States of Nigeria who came together to champion the quest for global peace, social development and justice.
He applauded all the members of the association and those who were honoured and awarded as ANUSA fellows, enjoining them to always think about the way forward,growth and unity of the union.
He acknowledged some of the challenges facing the association such as lack of funding that is hitting hard on ANUSA just as he disclosed some of his achievements which include: free ICT training, youths re-orientation and mind restructuring which he sighted as the theme of the conference.
The ANUSA President further called on cooperate bodies,well meaning individuals and donor agencies to come in for partnership.
The ANUNSA Zone A Coordinator, Victor T. Anowey,who is the National Director of Travels and Exchange said the association is owned by the United Nations which cut across states for students in the higher schools and youths in the state as members and that the association is commiteed promoting the goals of the United Nations to the grass roots.
In his contribution the ANUSA PRO Zone A, Anunsite Eustace Angel Opara-Ndudu noted that his office and the association are ever ready to project their activities to the global world through the means of internet and other information channels.
Meanwhil among those honored as ANUSA fellows are: Anunsite Kanu Kanu MacSweeney,Uche JK Ogbonna,Amb.Tony Kelvin Obinna,(a 2019 Imo Governorship aspirant from Owerri North), and Amb.Ikenna Anichie(Nkenke Enyi na Izuogu),as an icon of humanitarian service who was ably represented by Barr.John Ego Nwosu,a repute legal practitioner in Imo State.
Some others who were honoured with ANUSA Certificate of Merit for their various commitment and service to humanity are: Mr.Chidi Akagha,a well known Master of Ceremonyfrom Owerri Municipal, Mr.Tuclean Sopuruchi,a renowned Musical Artist and so many others too numerous to mention.
Also,the ANUSA Imo State Coordinator, Anunsite Uche Oguoma, and the Chairperson of the Local Organising Committee,LOC,Hopefine Onyema,in their respective words thanked God and those who came from far and near for making the event a huge success.
Highlight of the ceremony was the official unveiling/launching of the ANUSA T-shirt and the ANUSA Fellowship Induction/Appreciations from members and other invited guests.
