Some top members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Imo State who are seeking re election are delaying their planned move to the All Progressive Congress, APC.

This newspaper was informed that a serving senator and some members of the House of Representatives of the PDP stock from the State who have been romancing the APC in secret and expected to cross over to the ruling party are surprisingly delaying the move.

Last week, a PDP federal lawmaker who represents Ezinhitee/ Ahiazu Mbaise Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon.Ralpheal Nnanna Igbokwe   dumped the PDP for the APC.

His move was to be followed up by some other top members of the party who hold various elective positions and who had expressed strong reservations over the seeming take over of the party structure in the State by a former Deputy Speaker who is in pole position to pick the party’s governorship ticket.

This online newspaper had reported that some aggrieved members of the PDP who hold elective positions had expressed worry over their political  suffocation in the PDP in Imo after the Supreme Court delivered judgement in favour of Ahmed Makarfi as National Caretaker Chairman of the PDP and lately, the emergence of Uche Secondus as national chairman at the December 9, 2017 national convention of the party.

Sources said the PDP chieftains were to decamp to the APC early December 2017 but are suprisingly delaying the move till now.

The delay, according to the source is that they have not received sufficient assurance of an automatic return ticket which was part of the deal that will aid their move to the APC.

The APC National Chairman, John Oyegun had said the APC is bent on capturing the South East and South South zones ahead of the 2019 general elections.
