Ihedioha re- joined the Imo guber race after losing the 2015 election to the All Progressive Congress, APC candidate, Rochas Okorocha.

A report posted on social media stated that Ihedioha may not have forgiven Senator Anyanwu for failing to deliver him and the PDP in Anyanwu’s political enclave- Ikeduru Local Government Area during the 2015 elections.

During the polls, Anyanwu aspired for Owerri zone senate seat and won resoundingly in Ihedioha’s domain, Ezinihitee Mbaise, Ahiazu Mbaise and Aboh Mbaise where Ihedioha dominates the political landscape.

According to the report, the Senator is said to be aggrieved with Ihedioha for pushing the candidature of the member representing Owerri Federal Constituency, Hon Ezenwa Onyewuchi to vie for Owerri zone senate.

It was observed that Senator Anyanwu had indicated interest to run for a second term as Owerri zone senator but leapfrogged out of the contest for the governorship.

Before Anyanwu joined the governorship race, Ihedioha was having a field day in the PDP as he appeared to be the sole runner for the party’s governorship ticket.

Despite the interest of other aspirants such as Athan Achonu, Chukwuma Ekomaru (SAN), Prof Jude Njoku, Ihedioha and Anyanwu are the frontline contenders in the race.

Ihedioha may have a huge dose of support from the party structure, but Anyanwu has so much support from party leaders.
