The PDP Primaries in Imo State would have run into a hitch save for the ruling by Justice B.C.Iheka who struck out for lack of merit and jurisdiction a matter instituted by ex Council Chairmen and Councillors elected on the party’s platform and sought be included as delegates.
The ex Council bosses were elected into office in 2010 but sacked by Governor Rochas Okorocha in 2011.
They were restored to office via the ruling by an Appeal Court, an order not obeyed the present government.
The matter is before the Supreme Court.
Trouble started ahead of the primaries in the party when the ex Council bosses sought to be included as statutory delegates for the forthcoming primaries.
This was rejected by the party leadership who anchor their argument on the grounds that they are not in office and cannot assume such appellation until the matter is finally disposed by the law courts.
This newspaper was informed that legal Adviser of the ex Council Chairmen, Jerry Egemba, was directed to hands off the matter after reports claimed that he did took up the case without the knowledge and consent of the party’s National Legal Adviser.
The PDP in Imo State is heading into primaries with the guber race attracting so much attention and razzmatazz.
A 3man ad hoc delegates election was held last week across the 305 wards in the State. They will be joined by statutory delegates that will vote in Collegiate system to elect party flagbearers.
