Elder Statesman, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu at the weekend revealed why Imo State has remained politically unstable.

He attributed it to the political crisis that engulfed the State in 2007 when the then ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP failed to do the “right thing”

It would be recalled that the PDP was consumed by crisis in 2007 after Senator Ifeanyi Araraume was denied the party’s governorship ticket. The party rather handpicked an industrialist, Engr.Charles Ugwu.

Araraume had won the PDP guber primaries, sought and obtained a judgement from the Supreme Court as the authentic governorship candidate of the party.

Despite the ruling, Araraume never got the backing of the party.

Iwuanyanwu, a PDP chieftain made the disclosure at the funeral of the younger brother in the lineage of a former Deputy Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, Hon.Godffrey Dikeocha.

Iwuanyanwu had backed his political Godson,Senator Samuel Anyanwu for the governorship in 2019. Anyanwu lost the PDP governorship primary to Hon.Emeka Ihedioha, a former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives.

Senator Anyanwu is challenging his defeat at the primary in court.
