A major political tsunami has hit the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA and its governorship candidate in Imo State, Senator Ifeanyi Araraume.
One of the pillars in Araraume’s Destiny Organization, Chief Gibson Achonwa Njemanze (Oyiga) has dumped the Senator and rejoined his political family, the All Progressive Congress, APC pledging his support to his long time political ally and APC Governorship candidate, Senator Hope Uzodinma.
Speaking to innonews.com.ng, Oyiga said he left APGA based on the injustice in the party during the period of primaries which saw most stakeholders and aspirants very aggrieved wondering how the party would make a meaningful impact in the 2019 elections when it has injured itself so badly.
He said he decided to rejoin the APC having being a foundation member of the party and because the APC in Imo State now wears a new look with a new face with the emergence of Senator Hope Uzodinma as governorship candidate of the party in the State.
He said he had left the APC in the past because he was among those who opposed Governor Rochas Okorocha’s insistence on foisting his son in law, Uche Nwosu as governorship candidate of the APC and as Governor of Imo State in 2019.
Oyiga stated that he was a member of the APC Coalition that stood firm and strongly opposed Okorocha’s determination to impose his personal agenda on the people.
The Former Mayor of Owerri zone added that Senator Uzodinma’s emergence as APC Governorship candidate is a positive development for the party and will certainly increase the prospects of the party in retaining Imo State which is the only APC controlled State in the South East.
Oyiga’s exit from APGA and Senator Araraume’s camp is a major blow for the cock party and its governorship candidate considering his (Oyiga’s) vast political tentacles, reach and strength in Owerri Federal Constituency.
Aside being a formidable political force in Owerri Federal Constituency, political analysts contend that his Oyiga’s return to the APC will increase the party’s chances in the constituency and boost the candidature of the APC governorship candidate, Senator Hope Uzodinma in Owerri zone.
Oyiga tok advantage of the last day of substitution of names of candidates by INEC to make his next political move public.
