As the race for Okigwe Senate seat intensifies, a business mogul, Chief.Emma Okewulonu, (Ikeoha Okigwe) has been urged to join the contest.
Okigwe Senate seat became vacant after the sudden death of Senator Benjamin Uwajumuogu.
After his funeral, the race for his replacement took a new shape with political gladiators in the zone showing interest to occupy the position.
But the Okigwe Progressive Coalition, OPC, after its extraordinary meeting have thrown their support for Chief Okewulonu, vowing to back his ambition if he decides to contest.
They described Chief Okewulonu as worthy son of Okigwe zone who posses the capacity to effectively represent the zone at the Senate.
According to the group, it’s decision to support Chief Okewulonu is anchored on the basis that he is fit, capable and represents a new breed of upcoming politicians in Okigwe zone with the midas touch to take the zone to Olympian heights.
It said the time has come for Okigwe zone to break away from the old order and allow a new order to reign by giving Chief Okewulonu the opportunity to represent the people of the zone at the Senate.
” Chief Okewulonu is a true son of Okigwe zone. He has proved to be a worthy son of Okigwe zone and it will not be out of place if he represents the zone in the Senate. He is our best we can put forward to represent us and we are confident he will live up expectation.
“We call on him to heed to our clarion call by responding to it and join the race for the overall good of the zone”
