- Mr. Eze said there is no politician in Imo State who is bereft of Ben Johnson tendencies

Imo State born U.K based political analyst, Mr. Newton Eze, has accused politicians in the state of winning elections through the “Ben Johnson” way.
He said Governor Hope Uzodinma, who made a joking description of how he won the APC governorship ticket in 2019 through the “Ben Johnson way, only admitted openly the flawed manner he won the APC Primary.
Eze who spoke to INNONEWS from his base in Sussex, said Governor Hope Uzodinma is not the only politician in Imo State who rode to power through the Ben Johnson way.
He said “There are other politicians in the State, who also won elections or party nomination though the Ben Johnson way. Which of them, can say they won elections in a free and fair contest?. Is it the 2019 elections that was flawed where it is believed INEC compromised the results and declared Ihedioha winner of the polls?
“Is it the senatorial election in Orlu zone where an INEC Returning officer was threatened at gun point to announce results of an election to favour a particular candidate?. These are all Ben Johnson way of winning elections.
“Governor Hope Uzodinma is not the only politician who used the Ben Johnson way to get to power. Most of the public office holders in the State who are either in the State House of Assembly, House of Representatives or in the senate, all won elections through the Ben Johnson way.
“In Imo politics, which politician is not a Ben Johnson or rather who amongst them can boast they never won elections through the Ben Johnson way?
Eze who recently predicted the political fate of Governor Hope Uzodinma, Senator Rochas Okorocha and Hon Emeka Ihedioha in 2023, said the time has come for “politicians in the State to purge themselves of Ben Johnson tendencies and allow the choice of the people to prevail during elections”
“We have many Ben Johnsons in Imo politics, they should emulate Carl Lewis, the American track and field athlete, who won may laurels without performance enhancement drugs” he said.
