*Set to share 10,000 facemasks, hand sanitizers

A Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), DENORSEMEN Kclub International has intensified the sensitization campaign to check the spread of the second wave of coronavirus (COVID-19).

Members of the group in Imo State over the weekend moved round streets, markets and other populated areas in the State to engage with the people on the need to observe government and NCDC directives to check and stop the spread of the pandemic in the state.

The Gurvnor of DENORSEMEN Kclub International, Imo State Patrol, Ichie Obiora Nwigwe said that the group was out to “spread words on the dangers of disregarding protocols put in place by government to check the spread of the deadly pandemic as available data showed that the second wave is more deadly.”

Nwigwe who said that the Kclub has concluded arrangements to embark on distribution of ten thousand free facemasks and alcohol based hand sanitizers in the three geopolitical zones in the state, however pointed out that there should be serious efforts from all stakeholders to ensure compliance with all guidelines in order to control and stop the second wave of the pandemic in the state.

According to him, ” DENORSEMEN Kclub International believes strongly in service to humanity and in line with that our motto, we are ever ready to partner with governments and other stakeholders towards realising our people oriented goals for the society.”

Ichie Nwigwe who further commended Governor Hope Uzodimma for putting down serious measures to ensure that Imo State is safe from the pandemic, also used the opportunity to call on other stakeholders in the state to close ranks with the Shared Prosperity Government inorder to fight COVID 19 to standstill, adding that DENORSEMEN Kclub International will continue to be in forefront in the fight for a better society.

He said, ” Today, we have concluded the first phase of our public enlightenment campaign against COVID 19 in Imo State. In a short time, we will embark on the second phase which is the distribution of free ten thousand facemasks and alcohol based hand sanitizers in the three geopolitical zones in the state which is in line with our corporate Social responsibility. Our slogan against COVID 19 is, don’t be infected or affected and we can only achieve it by enlightening our members and the general public.”
