Details emerged at the weekend how reconciliation was brokered in the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Imo State.

Senator Samuel Anyanwu, had announced last week that PDP leaders have reconciled him and former Governor of the State, Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha.

The Ihedioha camp is yet to yet to react to the claims of the Senator.

The duo were bitter rivals after the PDP governorship primary in 2020.

This newspaper had described their political feud as cat and mouse who indulge in hide and seek.

Speaking to INNONEWS in an interview, a chieftain of the party, Chief Greg Ekegbulam, said the reconciliation was not about Ihedioha and Sam Daddy in Imo PDP alone, but geared towards strengthening the party in the State.

He said “The reconciliation was brokered by Governors Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, and Nyesom Wike of Sokoto and Rivers States in Abuja before the Reconciliation Committee took it up from there

“The reconciliation was not just between Ihedioha and Senator Anyanwu but for all party members who are aggrieved in one way or the other. We reasoned that the PDP must be united in Imo State ahead of the 2023 elections and there is need for unity and understanding

“The reconciliation is for all party chieftains and we call on the Senator not to allow a repeat of those factors which put him on a war path with the party in the past

“One can recall that he had openly endorsed Governor Hope Uzodimma, and engaged in several anti party activities in the past but all that is in the past now because the party had become one united family

He continued “There are various levels of reconciliation going on in the party at various levels and we remain hopeful that it will be friuthful and contribute significantly to the growth and development of the PDP in Imo State.
