The Caretaker Commitee of the All Progressive Congress, APC, in Imo State, says certain persons want to take advantage of the extension of the party’s membership revalidation exercise in Imo State, to register or revalidate their membership by proxy.
It said this is unacceptable, as “it will not compromise the integrity of the exercise, such as registration through unauthorized processes”
Recall that the party’s Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Commitee (CECPC) had extended the membership revalidation exercise, in Imo State and three other States, by two weeks
The party in a statement signed by the Director-General of the party’s media centre, Mr. Cajetan Duke and made available to newsmen in Owerri reminded all interested persons of the extension of the exercise by the Caretaker/ Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee, while warning against resignation or revalidation through proxy.
The statement which reads in parts:
“The State Caretaker Committee of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Imo State chapter, wishes to remind all interested persons both old members and intending applicants who are yet to revalidate their membership and or register, that the exercise which has been extended by the Caretaker/ Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) is still ongoing at the 27 local government headquarters across the state.”
“In line with guidelines as formulated by the CECPC, there is no room for revalidation or registration by proxy. Every interested person must physically present him/herself before the officials with all the requisite particulars for revalidation/ registration.”
“The attention of the party has been drawn to cases where certain persons have tried albeit unfruitfully to compromise the exercise through revalidation and registration by proxy.”
“The party hereby wishes to inform all of the prohibition of registration through proxies and warn against any fragrant disregard to the laid down procedures, while calling on interested persons to take advantage of the extension to genuinely conclude their revalidation and or registration formalities.”
