Some chieftains of the All Progressives Congress, APC in the South East have advised Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State and Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State, to adopt consensus method, to choose or select candidates for various elective positions during the party’s primaries in their various states.

Uzodimma and Umahi are the two South East Governors of APC extraction.

The party chieftains, operating on the aegis of Concerned South East APC Stakeholders, said the two State Governors should emulate President Muhammadu Buhari, who, as leader of the party in the country, introduced the consensus method to elect new members of the National Working Committee, NWC of the APC, at the just concluded National Convention of the party held in Abuja recently.

Spokesman of the group, Hon. Sebastine Okafor told INNONEWS in Owerri, that the consensus method ensured that the National Convention was conducted in a peaceful manner, devoid of little or no rancour among contestants who vied for various positions in the NWC of the party.

Okafor said “The consensus method introduced by President Buhari was an ideal approach to ensure that the National Convention of our great party went on successfully.

“There was no victor, no vanquished at the National Convention. There were no winners or losers and our party has continued to remain strong and formidable after the exercise.

“The opposition believed that after the National Convention, the APC would collapse. This is not the situation now, because the consensus method used in electing the NWC was successful . APC has remained solid after the National Convention. And kudos to President Buhari.

Okafor said based on the success of the consensus method at the National Convention of the APC, “the same method should be adopted to elect candidates during the party primaries in Imo and Ebonyi States where the APC do have Governors”

“We call on the two South East Governors of APC extraction, Governors Hope Uzodimma and Dave Umahi of Imo and Ebonyi States, to emulate President Buhari and resort to the use of consensus to select party candidates during the forthcoming primaries of the party in Imo and Ebonyi States” he stated.
