An elder statesman and respected Leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abia State, Amb. Prof Nwanbara Kanu has applauded the National Secretary of the party, Senator Samuel Anyanwu for ensuring the clearance of the opposition spokesperson, Ikegwuonu Onyinye Ugochinyere despite unwarranted provocation.
According to Prof Nwanbara, Senator Anyanwu has demonstrated true leadership anchored on humility by facilitating the immediate clearance of Mr. Ugochinyere not minding his poor public outburst against him and party national leaders.
Kanu, a former Nigerian Ambassador to Poland, warned PDP members, leaders and stakeholders in various states to always apply caution in every issue concerning the party, noting that the true test of obedience to once’s political family is exemplified by the person’s public conduct on matters affecting the party.
He called on other leaders across party lines to emulate Senator Anyanwu’s calm temperament in handling party issues, pointing out that despite the unwarranted provocation from his younger party men, he was able to put the interest of PDP first against him personal desires.
The PDP chieftain therefore suggested the need for Mr. Ugochinyere to apologize to the National Working Committee (NWC) of PDP over his conduct during the 3-man ad-hoc delegate election in Imo state.
It can be recalled that the media became awash with the news of the disqualification of Mr. Ugochinyere, a House of Representative’s aspirant in Imo state, but was brought to a halt when the National Secretary of PDP, Senator Anyanwu intervened leading to the issuance of Certificate of clearance to him.
