There is confusion in the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Imo State, after two letters from the National Working Commitee, NWC, surfaced on the social media, giving orders to two persons to act as State Party Chairman.

One of the letters had directed Dan Nwafor to take over as Chairman of the party based on the judgement of the Supreme Court.

The letter signed by National Secretary of the APC, Iyiola Omisore, said Nwafor should take over the affairs of the party in “compliance with the Supreme Court Judgement on the case between APC vs Evan Enwerem & 2 others (SC, CV/884/2020, which ordered for the reinstatement of Daniel Nwafor State led Executives of the party in Imo State”

The State Publicity Secretary of the APC, Cajethan Duke, in a swift reaction in a statement in Owerri described the letter as fake.

“The said letter is not only fake and misleading, but it is also a dramatized case of forgery masterminded by an unintelligent desperado” part of the statement stated.

In another letter signed by National Vice Chairman (South East), Ijeomah Arondiogbu, he urged the State Chairman, Ebere Macdonald, “to disregard in it’s entirety the letter referenced, written and purportedly signed by Engr. Iyiola Omisore, the National Secretary of the APC”

Part of the letter reads ” that no such matter relating to the leadership of the Imo State APC, or the reinstatement of the previous State executives, was raised during any National Working Committee (NWC), meeting for discussion and no agreement reached to warrant such unconstitutional action by Engr Omisore”

According to the Arondiogbu, the matter was not brought to the attention of the NWC

“That in this instance no such notice was brought to the attention of the NWC. It is hence believed that Chief Omisore would deliberately dare to disregard such an important provision in the Constitution of our great party. And If he did, he did such on his own accord”
