The Inter Party Advisory Council of Nigeria, IPAC, Imo State chapter, has disowned a group, which calls itself G-12, which adopted Peter Obi, the Presidential candidate of the Labour party, ahead of the 2023 presidential election.
In a statement signed by Ichie Levi Ekeh, Imo State IPAC Chairman and Hon Edoziem Clinton C (Secretary) and made available to newsmen in Owerri, the Council said it came up with the disclaimer in order for the unsuspecting Imo public not to be deceived.
The statement reads:
“Our attention has been drawn to a purported adoption of Mr. Peter Obi, the Presidential candidate of the Labour Party by a group that call themselves G-12 claiming to represent the interest of Imo IPAC. We have decided to put the unsuspecting Imolites and general public on the know to avoid being misled.
The Imo State IPAC state as follows:
- There is no group known as G-12 IPAC
- The Imo State IPAC has not adopted any presidential candidate
- The Imo State IPAC do not adopt candidates
- Nevertheless, a political party can adopt a candidate as an individual political party or form alliance with other political party or parties but not in the name of IPAC
- There is only one leadership of Imo IPAC ably led by Ichie Levi Ekeh as Chairman and Hon Edoziem Clinton C, as Secretary
- Mr. Uchendu Ahaneku of AA has been impersonating the Chairmanship of Imo IPAC and has been going about trying to defraud unsuspecting Imolites. We therefore advise Imolites , especially the Labour Party to disregard the fraudulent antics of Uchendu Ahaneku and his cohorts.
