Business mogul and philanthropist of note, Prince Alex Mbata, (PAM) has continued to receive accolades and extolled by well meaning Imolites for his numerous philanthropic deeds which has put several people out of poverty and misery particularly in Owerri Zone and across Imo State.
Despite his foray into politics, where he vied for Owerri zone Senate seat, Mbata, the humanist, holds the enviable record of empowering over 50,000 persons in Owerri zone through various mega empowerment programmes which has attracted commendations from far and near.
This has earned him the tag of the largest investor in human development because it is on record that no single individual has ever embarked on such massive programme which gave a lifeline to thousands of indigent persons.
Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma impressed by Mbata’s rare generosity had called on public office holders in the state to emulate the business man cum politician by assisting their people at all times.
Former Imo State Governor, Ikedi Ohakim, at a gathering of Imo political bigwigs at his Owerri palatial home in December 2022, described Mbata as a man of exceptional humility.
Such accolades come in droves for Mbata.
One of the beneficiaries of his mega empowerment programmes, Mr. Ernest Onwukwe, in an interview with INNONEWS said Mbata is a rare breed, who has devoted his wealth to aid the poor and the needy
He said “Aside government, Alex Mbata is the largest investor in human development in Imo State. He has touched the lives of many in several ways and means. And if he can be emulated by those in authority, there would be massive human development”
Aside philanthropy, the business mogul is known to have made huge contributions to the infrastructural development of Imo State, especially in his Owerri zone. He constructed several roads that are reputed to be of economic value to the people.
One of the roads was named after him by Governor Uzodimma after its commissioning, ostensibly to encourage the business mogul to continue his generosity and acts of philanthropy
Mbata is reputed to be one of the finest to have come from Imo State, a rare breed, a man of exceptional quality who has used his personal resources to touch the lives of people in many ways.
He had joined the race to represent Owerri zone at the senate after he secured the Senatorial ticket of the All Progressives Congress, APC. Mbata was overwhelmingly supported by the good people of Owerri zone for the seat at the red chambers.
Many attest that the outcome of Owerri zone Senate election does not in may way or measure reflect the genuine wishes of the people of the zone, because they truly voted and wanted Mbata as their Senator.
“Mbata was our choice for the senate. Our wishes were truncated but we believe it is temporary. We know justice will come and it will come because he is truly the peoples representative” said Everest Ike, a chieftain of the APC.
