In a move against the recent assault on the National President of the NLC, Comr. Joe Ajaero, allegedly orchestrated by unidentified political thugs, members of the “Obediently Hopeful New Movement for Uzodimma” have voiced their condemnation of the act against the Labour leader.
The group, led by Convener Dr. Emeka Mandela, at a press conference in Owerri, however expressed solidarity with the incumbent Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma, affirming their unwavering support for his 2023 gubernatorial re-election bid.
Dr. Mandela commended Governor Uzodimma’s leadership achievements, emphasizing the group’s conviction that he stands out among other candidates.
“We are satisfied with the achievements and success so far recorded in Imo State by the Governor and we are hereby fully in support of the re election bid of the governor.
“Having seen his impressive leadership since he assumed office as governor in 2020, we are convinced that he is the best to be elected amongst other candidates vying for governor” he said.
Addressing the embattled NLC President, Comr. Joe Ajaero, Dr. Mandela issued a stern warning to him to focus on his responsibilities and refrain from becoming a political tool.
He cautioned Ajaero from being used for personal vendettas, asserting that such actions would not be tolerated.
He also cautioned Ajaero to focus on his job and allow the Uzodimma Shared Prosperity administration in Imo to move on.
Dr. Mandela posed three critical questions to Comr. Joe Ajaero, questioning the consultation process with Nigerian workers before the protest in Imo.
He also challenged Ajaero’s claim of consulting workers and criticized the imposition of hardship on Imo residents.
The leader of the advocacy group raised concerns about the biased nature of Ajaero’s involvement, suggesting that internal issues within the Imo State NLC should be handled by local leadership.
Dr. Mandela urged fairness and non-tribalism in addressing the alleged issues within the NLC.
Expressing dismay over Ajaero’s medical treatment abroad, Dr. Mandela questioned the need for such actions, emphasizing the availability of affordable healthcare Nigeria.
He criticized the trend of politicians seeking medical treatment abroad while the Nigerian masses suffer, highlighting the contradiction in Ajaero’s actions.
Concluding the press conference, Dr. Mandela passionately appealed to the people of Imo State, urging them to unite and cast their votes for Uzodimma’s re-election in the upcoming gubernatorial polls on November 11.
He pointed out that the “Obediently Hopeful New Movement for Uzodimma” aims to rally Imolites to support the continuity of Uzodimma’s leadership for the betterment of the state.
