The 2025 FIFA Club World Cup in the United States will feature five Nigerian players, as the tournament expands to include 32 teams for the first time.
Leading the Nigerian contingent is Onuche Ogbelu, a 22-year-old striker with Tunisian giants Esperance.
Known for his clinical finishing, Ogbelu will aim to spearhead his team’s attack and boost their chances in the tournament.
Saudi Pro League side Al Ain will also showcase a trio of Nigerian stars: Rilwanu Haliru Sarki, a left winger; Joshua Udoh, a forward; and Hassan Sani Mohammed, a goalkeeper.
Their combined presence underscores the growing influence of Nigerian players in Middle Eastern football.
Zaidu Sanusi, a Super Eagles defender, will be part of Portuguese champions, FC Porto.
Sanusi’s experience at the international level is expected to be a significant asset for his club as the tournament.
The 2025 FIFA Club World Cup kicks off on June 14 and ends on July 15, 2025.
