Hull City has bolstered its defense with the acquisition of Nigerian international Semi Ajayi. The Sky Bet Championship side announced that the experienced defender has signed a two-year contract with the Tigers.
Ajayi, a seasoned centre-back, brings years of Championship experience to Hull. The 31-year-old previously played for West Bromwich Albion, where he spent six years and made 170 league appearances, contributing 12 goals. His tenure at Albion included a pivotal role in their promotion to the Premier League during the 2019/20 season.
An Arsenal Academy graduate, Ajayi joined West Brom in 2019 after a stint with Rotherham United. His impressive performances at the Hawthorns cemented his reputation as a dependable and commanding presence in defense. However, he was released by the Baggies at the end of the 2024/25 season, paving the way for his move to Hull.
“We are thrilled to welcome Semi Ajayi to Hull City. His experience, leadership, and defensive qualities will undoubtedly strengthen our squad as we prepare for the challenges ahead in the Championship.”a club spokesperson said.
Ajayi’s signing will officially take effect on July 1.
