Owerri Federal Constituency Needs A Seat That Delivers, As Citizen Akirika Okoro Consolidates

—– AS CITIZEN AKIRIKA OKORO CONSOLIDATES

We the members of OWERRI FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY CONSULTATIVE ASSEMBLY (OFCCA), a Socio-Political Pressure Group set up since 2015, to protect the political interest of Owerri Federal Constituency, made up of Owerri Municipal, Owerri-North and Owerri-West Local Government Areas, wish to state, without sentiments that Owerri Municipal has suffered unjustly in the supposed equitable share of representation of the Owerri Federal Constituency at the Federal House Of Representative. We have been sounding this aloud because among Owerri-North and Owerri-West, it is Owerri Municipal that has been allowed to lick the empty plate, while the other two mentioned local government areas have been having field days of eating what belongs to the three LGAs that make up the Federal Constituency.

For over 28 years, the people of Owerri Municipal have shockingly watched how the plate of food meant for the three Local Government Areas in the Federal Constituency have consistently passed from Owerri-west to Owerri-North without any consideration to the people of Owerri Municipal. Out of the 28 years of Federal Representation, both Owerri-west and Owerri-North have taken a whooping 12 years each, leaving a paltry 4 years for Owerri Municipal. Much of this has been drummed into the ears of all concerned, as it appears there is a deliberate conspiracy to ignore Owerri Municipal, as it continues this cry of marginalization and neglect.

As the 2027 election draws closer, it is expected that political parties, while fielding their candidates for Owerri Federal Constituency Seat, would address this imbalance. Nevertheless, we have noted with shock and dismay that almost all the political parties intentionally saw nothing wrong in this open injustice and unfair play, except the newly formed and duly registered Democratic Leadership Alliance, DLA, that chose to look into this marginalization of Owerri Municipal. After hearing and seeing the clear injustice meted out to the people of Owerri Municipal, the DLA took a firm decision, broke the ice and courageously took the seat to Owerri Municipal.

This is story of how Citizen Akirika Okoro, international businessman and philanthropist, came to rewrite the history of injustice and marginalization in the Owerri Federal Constituency. Having passed through crucibles of fire of injustice, Citizen Akirika Okoro has emerged, not just as the frontline Candidate for the Owerri Federal Constituency Seat, but as a formidable contender, positioning himself as the candidate to beat in the upcoming 2027 House of Representatives race.

Citizen Akirika Okoro’s growing momentum stems from several key factors as follows :

1. PARTY PLATFORM : He will, in the next few days, be formally unveiled by his political party, the Democratic Leadership Alliance, DLA, a Party which has positioned itself as a highly viable and democratic vehicle to win elections in Owerri Federal Constituency and beyond.
2. PHILANTHROPIC BASE : He is a known business mogul and philanthropist, and has significantly built grassroots goodwill across the 33 Wards of the Owerri Federal Constituency, vis-a-vis : Owerri North LGA (12 Wards), Owerri Municipal LGA (11 Wards) and Owerri West LGA (10 Wards).
3. Campaign Focus : Citizen Akirika Okoro is centering his campaign on complete rescuing the Owerri Federal Constituency from dissatisfied representation by past and present occupants, with a promise of practical, courageous, and responsive leadership.

One striking character and nature of Citizen Akirika Okoro is that he does not see himself as being in opposition. Rather, he sees himself as one who is on a rescue mission, to salvage dissatisfied representation of the Owerri Federal Constituency. Aside being the Candidate of the DEMOCRATIC LEADERSHIP ALLIANCE, DLA, Citizen Akirika Okoro is the People’s Candidate across political party lines, as he is the popular choice.

As campaigns are about to start in the next few weeks, we need to ask ourselves the following questions :

1. Among all the candidates of Political Parties for Owerri Federal Constituency Seat, who demonstrated enormous capacity to serve the people before politics beckoned?
2. Who stood with the masses when it mattered most?
3. Who related with our Primary and Secondary school children when there were no cameras?
4. Who related with school teachers in Owerri Federal Constituency without making noice?
5. Who empowered many Youths in the Owerri Federal Constituency without the use of cameras?
6. Who invested in our women in the Owerri Federal Constituency without the use of cameras?
7. Who invested in many of our different churches without indicating political interest?
8. Who invested in our communities without seeking for our votes?

These questions must be answered.

Across the three local government areas of Owerri Federal Constituency and beyond, only one name answers those questions : Citizen Akirika Okoro. This Owerri Nchi-ise born Political Operator had long before the House Of Representative became an overwhelming possibility had intervened in many sectors of the economy of the state without noise.

Indeed, despite being in “opposition”, the Imo State Government was so impressed and overjoyed with Citizen Akirika Okoro’s contributions to the Education sector that he was recognized and honoured with an Award for “Distinguished And Dedicated Support To Basic Education Development through the Imo State Universal Basic Education Board (IMSUBEB)”.

Citizen Akirika Okoro means business. The House Of Representatives is not a place for rhetorical showmanship. The Green Chamber is a place for serious business. It is, first and foremost, a worksplace for Legislation, Government Oversight and Policy Execution. While eloquent advocacy is important, it cannot substitute for actual Bills, Motions, Budgeting And delivering tangible democratic dividends, Citizen Akirika Okoro will take these legislative responsibilities to a much higher level. This is because the people of Owerri Federal Constituency are already tired of listening to empty promises, and as such, they want a Representative who will use his voice and legislative instrument to transform their lives and well being. And that voice has been found in Citizen Akirika Okoro. No wonder his name is on the lips of everyone in the Owerri Federal Constituency.
