No Invasion Of Fulani Herdsmen In Imo- Police

The Imo State Police Command has said there is no invasion of  Fulani herdsmen in the State.

The reaction came after reports in the media said a Fulani herdsman clashed residents at Toronto junction, Uratta in Owerri North Local Government Area.

In a statement signed by SP Orlando Ikeokwu,Police Public Relations Officer the Command said newspaper report that about three herdsmen invaded the community after the clash was false.

Part of the statement reads “For the purpose of clarity, the command wishes to state in clear terms that there is no tension in Imo resulting from an incident between a Fulani herdsman and one Soltim Langnim ‘m’ (now deceased) a Plateau state indigene residing in Owerri on the 5th of May, 2019 around Toronto Junction by Road Safety road as a result of which one Soltim Langnim was killed and one Friday Nimyel was injured.

“The command is presently on the matter as the corpse of the slain victim has been deposited in the mortuary pending autopsy while the injured victim is presently in the hospital responding to treatment as effort is being made to arrest the fleeing suspects.

“However, the cows belonging to the fleeing suspects have been recovered to a safe place. The area is relatively calm and is presently under strict surveillance and patrol to forestall any breach of peace.
