Utaka Takes Over French Club Youth Team

Former Super Eagles winger, John Utaka, has taken over the U-19 team of his former French club, Montpellier, as coach.

The Nigerian, 38, admired for his runs down the flanks for the Super Eagles during his playing days, will take charge of the French club youth side at the Stade de la Mosson.

His playing days at Montpellier was rewarding. Utaka featured for the club for two years from 2011- 2013, aiding the La Paillade to win their first top title in the 2011- 2013 season.  

He is mostly remembered by fans of the club in his brace, a 2-1 win over Auxxere.

Utaka spent 11 years with the Super Eagles featuring in the 2002 and 2010 FIFA World Cup tournaments. He was also part of the squad that won bronze at the 2006 Africa Cup of Nations.

He was the highest goalscorer in the 1999-00 Egyptian Premier League season scoring 17 goals.
