The Supreme Court will on Friday, October 15, determine between Prof Charles Chukwuma Soludo and Hon.Micheal Umeoji, who is the governorship candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, for the November 6 governorship election.
The nation’s apex court is expected to determine which of the factional executives of the party was legal and validly conducted the party’s governorship primaries in the State.
On Monday, October 12, the Supreme Court, after hearing from counsels of the feuding factions involved in the squabbles set a date for it’s verdict.
The Supreme Court directed the leading lawyers in the case, Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN), and A.U Mustapha (SAN), to make their submissions to the court latest on Thursday.
The matter had progressed from the High Court to Appeal Court.
A faction of the party led by Victor Oye and Chief Edozie Njoku, had elected Soludo on Wednesday, June 23 as the party’s candidate with 740 votes out of 812 delegates.
Umeoji, a member of the House of Representatives, on July 1, was elected candidate of the party by Chief Jude Okeke faction of APGA with 904 votes out of 1,138 delegates.
