Ahead of the 2019 governorship election in Imo State, top contenders for the contest have not rested on their oars as they have embarked on intensive mobilization of supporters across the state to drum up support for their ambition.
In the All Progressive Congress, APC, Senator Ifeanyi Araraume has set up a “Fans Club” in the 27 local governments in the State. The “Fans Club” is a volunteer group made up of men, women and youths who believe in the cause of the senator. No fewer than 5,000 members constitute the membership of the group in each of the local governments.
One of the functions of the group is to disseminate information on the qualities and capacity of the senator. The group will also create a solid support base for the senator in every ward and local government in the state.
The same also goes for Hon. Ihedioha, a former Deputy Speaker House of Representatives, who is also eyeing the governorship seat in 2019 on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Aside the party structure , there is “Team Ihedioha” made up of his loyalists and supporters in all the 305 wards in the state. The group have held several meetings all geared towards massive mobilization at the grassroots. The team is on mobilization drive and will recruit converts to the cause of Ihedioha.
Also, several Youth Groups have been set by the former lawmaker. No fewer than seven Youth groups have been constituted in some local governments all drumming support for the governorship ambition of the former lawmaker at the grassroots.
