Celebrating Imo’s 50 Years, A Momentous Experience – Ohakim

■Says Golden Jubilee Catalyst for Renewed Hope

Former governor of Imo State, Dr Ikedi Ohakim, has opined that celebrating 50 years of the creation of the Eastern Heartland State evokes a momentous experience, even as he harped on the need for the people of the State to embrace unity and the spirit of collective responsibility, assuring that the future is very bright for the State. He also extolled Governor Hope Uzodimma’s administrative style, describing it as a step in the right direction.

The former governor stated this in his goodwill message to the government and the people of Imo State on the occasion of the State’s 50-year anniversary celebration. According to Ohakim, “I am delighted to extend my warmest congratulations to the government and people of Imo State, under the distinguished leadership of Governor Hope Uzodimma, as they commemorate a significant milestone, fifty years of statehood.”

He pointed out that “this momentous occasion provides an opportunity for introspection, gratitude, and rededication to the noble ideals that have shaped the State’s history.” He noted that “over the past five decades, Imo State has produced remarkable individuals who have excelled in various fields, contributing significantly to Nigeria’s development.”

The former governor stressed that “from governance and education to commerce, culture, sports and public service, Ndi Imo have made indelible marks.” He stated that “as we celebrate these achievements, we acknowledge the visionaries, leaders, and citizens who laid down the foundation of the State, often under challenging circumstances.”

He opined that “as Imo embarks on its next phase, it is imperative to prioritise unity, fairness, justice and inclusive development. The people-centred approach of the current administration, as exemplified by Governor Hope Uzodimma, is a step in the right direction. I urge all stakeholders to emulate this spirit of collective responsibility, transcending parochial interests and working towards a bright future for all.”

He assured that “as we look ahead, I am confident that the resilience, ingenuity, and solidarity of the Imo people will continue to drive progress and prosperity. I commend the people of Imo State, at home and in the diaspora, for their unwavering commitment to the State’s growth and development.” He further urged the people of Imo State to “let this Golden Jubilee serve as a catalyst for renewed hope, faith, and optimism. I wish Imo State continued peace, progress, and prosperity in the years ahead as we celebrate this historic milestone.”
