The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has reportedly handed Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle an improved contract package, significantly increasing his monthly salary and expanding his responsibilities within the national team setup.
Under the new agreement, the 48-year-old tactician will earn about $100,000 monthly, representing a major increase from the $50,000 he previously received. The development is seen as a strong vote of confidence in the Franco-Malian coach following his early work with the senior national team.
The revised deal also relieves Chelle of the financial burden of paying his backroom staff. Under his former contract arrangement, he was responsible for funding the salaries of his assistants from his earnings. The Nigeria Football Federation will now directly pay the wages of his coaching crew.
The enhanced contract further broadens Chelle’s responsibilities, with the coach expected to take charge of the country’s Under-23 national team, the Dream Team, as preparations commence for the football event of the 2028 Olympic Games.
Although the NFF is yet to officially issue a statement on the new contract, sources familiar with the development confirmed that the agreement has been reached and the new terms have already been finalized. The federation is expected to make a formal announcement in the coming days.
