The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Imo State has reaffirmed Governor Hope Uzodimma as its candidate for the Imo West Senatorial District, dismissing reports suggesting a change in the party’s candidate as unverified.
In a press statement issued on Thursday, October 29, 2026, the party said Uzodimma emerged victorious in its senatorial primaries with the overwhelming support of the majority of its members. The APC’s position comes amid reports concerning a Federal High Court judgment in Abuja ordering the party to recognise former Governor Rochas Okorocha as its candidate for the senatorial seat.
The statement, signed by the APC State Publicity Secretary, Onwuasoanya FCC Jones, PhD, urged party members and supporters to remain focused and undistracted, while intensifying efforts to secure victory for the party across all constituencies in the state.
The party also disclosed that its legal department would study the outcome of the legal intervention in the matter and take appropriate action. It maintained that Uzodimma remained its candidate for Imo West, despite the controversy surrounding the court decision.
