The Imo APC Restoration Coalition have stated that the ward, Local Government and State Congresses in the party in the State stands.
The Coalition’s reaction came the same day Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha said fresh congress will be held in the party.
Okorocha and his political followers called “Agburu Anyi” in Igbo parlance and the Coalition made up of Imo State Deputy Governor, Prince Eze Madumere, Senator Ifeanyi Araraume, Senator Osita Izunaso, Hon Emeka Nwajiuba and many others have been entangled in fierce political battle for the soul of Imo APC.
Okorocha was instrumental to the ouster of Senator Osita Izunaso as the National Organizing Secretary of the party. He was replaced by his aide Barr Emma Ibediro whom he sponsored at the APC national convention held at the weekend in Abuja.
In a statement signed by TOE Ekechi for the Coalition, it said “much as Izunaso’s victory at the convention would have been an “icing on the cake”, the Coalition is still joyous because we still have the cake- the officers at various levels of the party in the State. His “loss” did not in anyway affect the current status of officers of the party”
“The Coalition wish to state unequivocally therefore that the sanctity of the Ward, LGA and State Congresses of APC Imo State remain sacrosanct and cannot be tampered with by any one man no matter his position in the party”.
On the loss of Senator Izunaso, he said the Coalition “along with other stake holders of the party we are doing everything within the ambit of the law to seek redress and consequently a supplementary election to redeem the integrity of the party”
“All duly elected Officers of the party at various levels should continue to hold their forte without fear and intimidation” he said
