As the yuletide draws near, the spate of insecurity in Owerri Municipal has received the attention of stakeholders who have brainstormed on how best to resolve the menace.
The Owerri Municipal Council boss, Hon.Ebere Chukwemeka, had convened a crucial meeting comprising hotel, brothel operators geared towards finding an amicable solution to the level of insecurity in the municipality.
The meeting took place at the Council headquarters.
Speaking at the meeting, Hon.Chukwuemeka said the State Governor, Hon Emeka Ihedioha, is concerned on the deplorable level of insecurity in the municipality and is committed to find a lasting solution to the anomaly.
He said “Operation Iron Gate” , set up by the Governor which comprise all security agencies operative in the State, have recorded impressive results thus far in combating criminality in Owerri Municipal.
At the meeting, hotel operators and other stakeholders who were present at the meeting were tutored by heads of security agencies in the State on how best to put in place workable security measures to stem the tide of insecurity in the area.
In recent times, some areas in the municipality such as Douglas Road had become a haven for criminals who molest citizens of the State.
In a post seen by this newspaper , the council Chairman, Ebere spoke on the need for collaboration among the citizens, security agencies and hotel operators in the State capital to close ranks to deal with the menace of insecurity in Owerri Municipal.
