A watchdog group in Imo State, Imo Awareness Coalition, IAC, has advised Governor Hope Uzodinma “to quicken the pace of governance in the State, by assigning portfolios to his Special Advisers and Senior Special Assistants”
Coalition spokesman, Fidelis Echendu, in a telephone interview with INNONEWS, Saturday, said the Governor should step up governance in the State by fully engaging all his aides in the task of governing the State.
He said with the coronavirus pandemic ravaging the globe, this is the time for the wheels of the government in the State to be fully operational.
“This is the time for all government appointees to be involved in governance of the State. Swearing in the SAs and SSAs and keeping them idle is unacceptable. It is unheard of” Echendu stated
“Governance should be on full throttle in the State particularly at this period we have a deadly pandemic ravaging the country. You do not engage people and keep them idle while they earn tax payers money.
“Of what value are they, if they are not engaged or assigned portfolios? They should be engaged immediately and tasked to hit the ground running.That will send clear signals that the government means business
Echendu said the watchdog group, will give 100 days in office assessment of the present administration in the state, which it described as part of its responsibility to hold the government accountable.
Governor Uzodinma had recently inaugurated his Commissioners, Special Advisers and Senior Special Assistants. He assigned portfolios to the Commissioners and two weeks after the inauguration, the SAs and SSAs are with no portfolios.
