The Imo Awareness Coalition, IAC, a watchdog group, has given its assessment of Governor Hope Uzodimma’s one year in office, advising the Governor to “fully step up the pace the governance in the State”

Speaking to INNONEWS in Owerri, spokesman of the Coalition, Fidelis Echendu said Governor Uzodimma’s one year in office “was all about the learning the ropes in governance and the second year, offers him the opportunity intensify the implementation of his vision, programmes and policies for the upliftment of the State”

“The coming year will put the Uzodimma administration on the spotlight and determine if he is really on course in developing the State” the IAC spokesman said.

Echendu said the IAC after its extraordinary meeting in Owerri, scored the present administration average in terms of performance, urging the Governor to refocus his administration, rejig his cabinet, aid his aides to achieve the core objectives of his 3R mantra, and prioritise the programmes of his administration.

IAC spokesman said the IAC is impressed with the attention given to improving infrastructure such as construction and rehabilitation of urban roads in the State capital

“The pace of governance is slow. The wheels of governance have been grinding so slow. We call for precision in executing government policies, and better co- ordination in conducting government business” the IAC spokesman said.

Echendu said the issue of Workers salaries and pensions of pensioners “has been a nagging issue which the present administration is yet to find a lasting solution to”

“Government owes it a duty to workers and pensioners to ensure they are paid as at when due” he said.
