Governor Hope Uzodimma, Tuesday, at Imo Stakeholders meeting in Owerri, said he will not mention names of those responsible for insecurity in Imo State.
The governor’s statement came few hours after the Imo State government had accused former governor of Imo State, Senator Rochas Okorocha and his son in law and former Chief of Staff, Uche Nwosu of being behind security challenges in the State.
A statement by Uzodimma’s Chief Press Secretary, Marcel Oguwuike, said Okorocha and Nwosu have been accused of culpability by some suspects.
“For the avoidance of doubt, Okorocha and Nwosu have been specifically mentioned by suspects who are in the custody of security agents, as being sponsors of kidnapping and banditry in Imo State, using their relationship with former ex militants to perpetrate the crimes” part of the statement read
Uzodimma however told Imo stakeholders in Owerri, that those involved in fueling insecurity in the State will be arrested and charged to court.
He said he will not reveal their names in order not to compromise ongoing investigation by security agencies.
He announced plans to revive critical infrastructure in the State such as Owerri- Orlu road which he said would be completed in April 2022, while work will commence on the MCC- Uratta road in Owerri, in January 2022.
Recall that the Imo State government through the State Commissioner of Information, Declan Emelumba, announced that sponsors of kidnapping, banditry and cannibalism, will be announced by the governor at the stakeholders meeting.
