Residents, civil Servants and traders in Anambra State, Monday, ignored the directive by Anamabra State Governor, Charles Soludo, to ignore the Mondays Sit At home Order, by the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.
The IPOB had issued the Order in protest over the detention and trial of its leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
Soludo on assumption of office, last week, had directed that the people of Anambra State, particularly workers, should shun the order and go about their normal duties on Mondays.
Our reporter in Awka reports that residents and traders rather complied with the order of the IPOB and decided to stay at home.
Major markets in the State such as Ochanja market, Upper- Iweka Market, Nnewi Auto spare parts, banks and schools were shut.
The State Secretariat in Awka, was completely deserted as workers were scared of showing up for work despite a directive by the State Governor that workers should not fail to report to work on Mondays.
“Consequently, absence from duty on Mondays or any other official workday without approval will be viewed as serious misconduct which will attract appropriate sanctions,” a circular signed by Head of Service Anambra State, Theodora Igwebe had stated.
Governor Soludo, had during at town hall meeting held at Dora Akunyili Women Development Centre in Awka, directed all markets, schools, banks and motor parks in the state to resume normal activities with effect from Monday, April 4, 2022.
