*Reveals Those Behind Sponsoring False Reports Against Him In The Media*
The Imo East Senatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Prince Alex Mbata, has said he was never indicted by Whitepaper on Imo State University, IMSU, accusing the opposition and a failed APC Owerri zone senatorial aspirant of sponsoring a faceless group to publish falsehood on his person in the media.
Mbata, in a statement signed by his Media Adviser, Innocent Onyeukwu, stated that he was never indicted by the IMSU Whitepaper report, insisting that the Visitation Panel to IMSU, never confronted him with any petitions, allegations or questions when he was invited in March 2020, to give account of his stewardship when he was pro Chancellor of the University.
According to the statement made available to newsmen in Owerri, he stated that the IMSU White paper is a public document, urging the general public and the media to study the report and not rely on the false narratives spewed by a particular media House.
“We had ignored the ramblings and falsehood peddled by this group for long in the media, because it remains what it is, cheap blackmail, baseless allegations, which not only lacks foundation, but part of a wider plot by the opposition, with some willing tools in our party, including a particular aspirant who lost the just concluded APC Imo East Senatorial Primary, to portray Prince Mbata, our great party, in bad light before the good people of Owerrri zone ahead of the 2023 general elections” part of the statement read.
He also said he never lied or committed perjury as insinuated by a newspaper report, when he filled his APC Nomination and Expression forms for Imo East Senatorial contest, because he was never indicted by any White paper report
