The All Progressive Congress, APC in Imo State looks pretty good to sweep the August 25, 2018 Local Government election in the State.
The APC is the governing party in Imo State despite being divided as two factions jostle for supremacy in the party.
Governor Rochas Okorocha is leading a faction in the party, while a group of politicians made up of impeached Okorocha’s deputy, Prince Eze Madumere, Senator Ifeanyi Ararume, Senator Osita Izunaso and others make up the “All forces”
The Imo State Independent National Electoral Commission, ISIEC, is expected to hold the local government polls on Saturday in an election expected to be swept by the Councillorship and Local Government Chairmanship aspirants on the party’s platform mostly those in Okorocha’s camp.
The polls is coming seven years Okorocha was elected Imo State Governor.
It was observed party chieftains in the Governor’s camp had embarked on campaigns across the 27 LGAs across the State shoring up support for its candidates.
There is no opposition to the ruling party in the polls as the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP are expected to boycott the polls.
The PDP is insisting that the 27 Council Chairmen elected on its platform in 2010 but sacked by Okorocha in 2011 are reinstated.
The Council Chairmen were reinstated by the law courts which the present administration has refused yet to adhere to.
