Operation Recovery Begins In Imo APGA

Delegates who took part in the primaries of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, in Imo State, have embarked on moves to recover monies they spent as delegates.

APGA in Imo State has been riddled with tales of corruption after a former national chairman of the party, Chief Victor Umeh, in a leaked mail to Anambra State Governor, Willie Obiano,exposed how some governorship aspirants in the party, Chief Ikedi Ohakim, Chief Okey Ezeh and Sir Stanley Amuchie, were swindled of millions of naria ahead of the party primaries.

Large scale fraud had allegedly dominated the last primaries of APGA in Imo State which ended in controversial circumstances.

One of the delegates who spoke to this newspaper on condition of anonymity claimed that the delegates who obtained bank drafts have been requested to forward photocopies of their payments to their Local Government Chairmen.

He claimed that the services of legal practitioners have been engaged to begin the process of recovering their monies.

APGA in Imo State was dismembered so badly prior to the general elections in the State with widespread allegations of fraud allegedly perpetrated against delegates who coughed out huge sums of money prior to the party primaries.

Most of the delegates eventually never took part in the exercise.

Analysts contend that say that APGA performed poorly during the elections because of internal skirmishes that rocked it’s fold.

The party placed third in the governorship contest and produced six members of the State House of Assembly.

While the party’s governorship candidate, Senator Ifeanyi Araraume, had gone to Election Petition Tribunal to challenge the outcome of the polls, it’s elected House of Assembly members have defected to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP
