The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Imo State has ordered all aspirants seeking National Assembly tickets to present themselves for an immediate financial compliance screening, warning that failure to comply will attract punitive measures.
In a directive issued by the state secretariat, the party said only aspirants who have fully met their financial obligations would be allowed to proceed in the nomination process, raising the stakes ahead of internal party primaries.
The notice, signed by State Secretary, Hon. Onyekachi Ibezim, mandates all Senate and House of Representatives aspirants who purchased expression of interest and nomination forms to appear in person at the party’s secretariat located at 47 Okigwe Road, Owerri.
According to the directive, the exercise is scheduled for Monday, May 5, 2026, at exactly 12:00 noon, with strict instructions that attendance is compulsory and non-delegable.
Aspirants are required to present verifiable documentation proving they are financially up to date with party dues, a condition the APC says is non-negotiable for participation in subsequent stages of the electoral process.
In a further tightening of compliance rules, the party also directed aspirants to provide evidence that all individuals who endorsed their nomination forms are equally financially compliant members of the APC.
Party officials said the State Financial Secretary would conduct a thorough verification of all submitted documents, suggesting a zero-tolerance approach to irregularities or financial discrepancies.
The party warned that any aspirant who fails to meet the requirements or ignores the directive risks sanctions, effectively disqualifying themselves from further participation.
“Any aspirant who fails to comply will have himself to blame,” the statement said, signaling the party’s readiness to enforce strict consequences without exception.
